FAQs

Q. What is a clinical psychologist?
A. A clinical psychologist has a degree in psychology - the science of behaviour - which is attained after six years of university-based education and training. This includes two years of postgraduate training in clinical assessment and treatment methods.

Q. Can someone at the CBT Centre help me?
A. The CBT Clinical Psychology Centre is a network of experienced clinical psychologists, with 8 to 30 years of practice in psychology. They include clinicians with child and adolescent experience and they are all trained in treating depression and anxiety disorders. The best way to find out if they can help you is to see one of them.

Q. What happens if they can't help me?
A. If none of the Centre's clinical psychologists feel that they are suited to your particular case, they will refer you on to someone they believe is more appropriate.

Q. How many sessions will I need?
A. That is really dependent on the severity of the issue and how long it's been going for. The Centre's goal is for clients to move through therapy in a time-effective manner and at a pace that is both comfortable and rewarding for them. The average time is a few months.

Q. How long will it take me to get an appointment?
A. On average, it's about 7-10 days. If the matter is urgent, the clinicians will do whatever they can to see you as soon as possible.

Q. Do you take appointments in the evening?
A.

The team at the CBT Clinical Psychology Centre understand that some people find it more convenient to see clinicians after hours so evening appointments are available.
